Bullying happens every day, whether it’s through social media, in the workplace or even in public. It’s not unheard of to feel confronted or feel vulnerable in situations like these. Its places like here – The Lobo Academy that can allow you to overcome these situations and prepare yourself as an adult, to boost your confidence and to know how to properly defend yourself in day to day situations.
Here at the Lobo Academy of Malaysian Martial Arts we pride ourselves in being capable of educating people of all ages the basis behind concepts like discipline, respect and the art of self-defense, and ultimately how to face bullying with confidence!
When dealing with bullies and intimidation the ABCD’s of Self Protection – Avoidance, Be Calm, Control the situation and Defend yourself is shown to be effective in helping adults who are facing problems.
Avoidance of the situation is always a clear way to protect yourself – There are many ways that you can increase the possibility of you avoiding confrontation or intimidation which include:
Walking with confidence – The way that you present yourself to others, even by the way you walk, has a huge impact on whether you’re going to attract the wrong type of attention. If you walk with confidence then you are a lot less likely to be targeted.
Using your voice – Your voice is one of the most powerful tools you have when it comes to aggressive behaviour. Speaking in an auto reactive tone – Making a scene and drawing attention to the situation will help deter any negative behaviour being directed your way.
Being strong – Whilst physical defence is always considered a last resort, if you find yourself in a vulnerable position to which you cannot get away or get help then you NEED to be able to protect yourself – YOU are the main priority.
Learning a martial art provides more than just self-defence physically, it allows you to understand, prevent and defend yourself from many forms of bullying, whilst also teaching you valuable morals that no other can teach. Confidence is key; and here at the Lobo Academy we thrive on teaching and enforcing those of all ages the concept of respecting others, but also looking after yourself.
